St Andrew’s does not currently run its own Marriage Course but highly recommends The Marriage Course Online run by Holy Trinity Brompton(HTB).

How do you make a happy marriage?

Whether you’ve been together for one or 61 years, whether you have a strong relationship or you are struggling – the Marriage Course gives practical tools to improve and strengthen any marriage.

What happens?

The course runs over seven evening sessions, with a relaxed candlelit meal at a table for two, and an informative, practical, fun talk or DVD presentation. There is no group work, and you will never be asked to share anything about your relationship with anyone except your partner.

What do you learn?

  • building strong foundations
  • the art of communication
  • resolving conflict
  • the power of forgiveness
  • the impact of family – past and present
  • good sex
  • love in action

Who goes?

Any couple who has been together more than a year and who wants their relationship to be the best it can be. While based on Christian principles, the Marriage Course is for couples with or without a Christian faith, including people who don’t go to church.

Who started it?

The course was developed by Nicky and Sila Lee in 1985. They have been married for more than 30 years and are on the staff at Holy Trinity Brompton, the church that started the Alpha course. Ron and Jackie Stewart, who run the St Andrew’s Marriage Course, have been married for more than 40 years.
